Frequently asked questions

Can we substitute items in the buffet menu?

Of course! We want you and your guests to enjoy everything on the table. Remember that there will be a difference in price if you'd like to substitute something more expensive.

Can we order multiple entrées for plated menus?

Definitely! Everyone should have foods that they enjoy eating.

Our menus include one choice of entrée and a vegetarian option. You can add more choices, at an additional charge. The surcharge is $5 per person for two choices, and $7 per person for three choices. We offer a maximum of three choices, plus a vegetarian option.

Can you accommodate dietary restritions?

Yes, absolutely, as long as they are within the scope of our facility. Some meal requirements need to be provided from specialized facilities*.

Do you have children menus?

You bet, with kid-friendly favourites like chicken fingers, mac and cheese, and burgers! See our children's menu on our wedding catering page for details.

Is there a minimum number of guests required?

Yes, menus have a 50-guest minimum. Truffles Catering will evaluate any surcharges on an individual basis. For example, if you do not reach the minimum, a surcharge will apply based on total food spend.

Are there menu cards on the tables and buffets?

Truffles Catering provides a printed menu on the buffet. You will have the option to order individual printed menus for plated meals*.

Can you create a custom menu?

We love getting creative! The Truffles catering team will happily work with you to design the perfect menu for your wedding.

Can we supply our own alcohol?

Unfortunately not, as doing so goes against provincial liquor licensing rules.

Can we order wine that is not on the wine list?

Of course! You can special order wine by the case through Truffles Catering. They'll need to know your choices at least 30 days before your event. Retail prices will apply. If there are any bottles left over, we'll give them to you after the event, as they can't be returned to the Liquor Distribution Branch. Save at least one to toast your first anniversary!

Does Truffles place the wine bottles on the table, or do they provide table service?

Truffles provides table service until you're finished dinner. If you'd prefer the bottles to simply be placed on guest tables, we can do that instead.

What linen colours do you have?

We offer white, ivory or black linens as part of our packages. If you have a different color in mind, Truffles Catering can arrange for linens and chair covers in your preferred colour*.

What options are available for hosting beverages?

We have several options. Choose one or more that fits your plans. You'll be invoiced based on the amount consumed.

  • Time frame. Choose a specific time frame, such as the pre-dinner cocktail reception or after-dinner beverages.
  • A specific number of beverages per person. You can supply customized tickets or use generic tickets.
  • A type of beverage. You might want to host all non-alcoholic beverages, for example. Some couples choose to host beer and wine or host a signature cocktail.

Who should I discuss catering menus with?

If you're choosing from Truffles' published menus, give your choice to your RRU event coordinator at least 45 days before your wedding day. If you're creating a custom menu or have dietary concerns, you'll meet directly with Truffles Catering.

When is my final guest number required?

We want to make sure everything is perfect, so we'll need to know your final guest count seven days before your wedding date.

Can I bring my wedding cake from an external supplier?

Certainly! When you fill out your wedding planning tool, let us know whether you would like us to serve the cake or set it up on display*.

For health and safety reasons, wedding cakes can only be displayed indoors. The cake display option only applies to the following packages: Classic Castle, Quarterdeck Reception and the Classic Hatley Castle & Quarterdeck Combination.

Is there a fee if I bring cupcakes or donuts?

Yes, a small fee will apply depending on how you'd like your cupcakes or donuts presented.
